The typical day consists of a light breakfast with coffee, tea, and snacks around 8 am. Teachers will arrive at the college around 9 and then begin teaching. There will be a lunch break and all volunteers will either eat in the college cafeteria (the cafeteria food is actually delicious and the company is even better). After lunch, volunteers will teach one more class.
After teaching English, volunteers can relax and receive a traditional Thai massage, go shopping, visit a Buddhist monastery, or trek back to the home-base to relax.
The program manager in Thailand will arrange cultural events to maximize the participants experience. Throughout the five weeks there will be numerour activities and seminars to better understand Thai culture. Some examples of activities include-
-Visits to the alternative hospital to learn about reflexology, aromatherapy, acupuncture, traditional thai massage, and other practices of Eastern holistic medicine.
-Trips to the local monasteries to interact with Buddhist monks. Participants can hear lectures about Buddhist religion and philosophy and even take part in a meditation session alongside monks!
-Trips around Trang to botanical gardens, beaches, and other points of interest.
-Learn how to give a traditional thai massage from Dr. Ramen
-Receive Thai cooking lessons to learn the essentials of Thai cuisine
Around 5 or 6 volunteers will meet at a local restaurant or get some grub at the market. Some of the best dishes are in the marketplace, where bargaining is a must!
