Volunteers will teach English to Thai Nursing students at Borromrajanannai Nursing College in Trang Thailand. The program is a five week teaching agenda. As Tourism is the second largest factor for the GDP of Thailand, being fluent in English is essential for a Nursing position candidate in Thailand. Our main mission in Trang is to help students with their English comprehension. The typical day consists of a light breakfast with coffee, tea, and snacks around 8 am. Teachers will arrive at the college around 9 and then begin teaching. There will be a lunch break and all volunteers will either eat at a local restaurant or in the college cafeteria (the cafeteria food is actually delicious and the company is even better). After lunch, volunteers will teach one more class. Afterwards, volunteers can enjoy themselves relaxing, shopping, visiting, or learning Thai.
Along with teaching English to Thai students, participants will take part in cultural events. International Programs intends on creating meaningful experiences for participants while helping the community. To learn more about seminars and cultural events click on the 'free time' tab.
The Thailand Program for 2008 consists of two seperate groups that will split the summer session. The first group of paticipants will begin teaching in Trang June 2nd; the second group will begin teaching on July 14th. Each program is 5 weeks long, not including orientation and departure. Participants will be expected to arrive in Bangkok several days before the start dates. The Thailand program manager will be in Bangkok to receive participants, acquire lodging, and even plan a light itinerary while allowing participants at least one full day to recover from any travel sickness or jet lag before travelling to Trang.

Accommodations:
International Programs is located in Trang Thailand, which is on the southern tip of Thailand. Trang is approximately one hour away from Bangkok by airplane, giving it a life of peacefulness and tranquility without the hustle and bustle of a large city. The culture and life of Trang is an awesome place which gives volunteers a complete Thai experience. Situated only half an hour from the beach, Trang was once an important sea port of southern Thailand.

Housing will consist of a residential house in the city of Trang. The house is close to the college where volunteers will teach, as well as to other important places in town such as the grocery store, town center, restaurants, and sites. The house has two bedrooms that are divided dormitory style between 2-4 volunteers. Bedding and other furnishings will be provided by the program to enhance the feeling of being at home. It is essential for volunteers to come home to a peaceful and relaxed setting. Any special accommodations may be requested in advance if needed for handicap or personal reasons. All requests must be submitted to the program director in Trang before the program commences. These special accommodations may or may not be provided due to space and allowable adjustments.

In the evening, volunteers can relax at the house or go to town for the evening. Local restaurants, shopping centers, street markets, temples, bars, and other places of interest are only a taxi away. Food will be provided by the program during the 4 day workweek, but as weekend travel is encouraged food and housing will not be provided for by International Programs.
